Your message burns in my heart and bones, and I cannot keep silent.

Great Storm Coming—"Our God Reigns" (Dream)
During the 1990's, I had several dreams of storms coming. Some appeared like great waves crashing on
the shore; some simply appeared as great floods; and a few seemed to be associated with earthquakes or
upheavals of sorts.
However, in many of the dreams, I saw bright lights shining in the heavens and heard a word of
encouragement that the Lord and His glory were in the darkness of the storm and that He is coming. The
theme of the Lord's return has been reinforced numerous times to me in words, visions, dreams, and
songs since the Lord first broke into my life in the early 1980's. Is this wishful thinking or expectant faith?
I trust it is the latter.
On August 17, 1998, I had a very vivid dream in which I heard a great storm is coming .
People were standing around speaking of a great storm that is coming. There had never been a
storm like this. I was standing in a house with a very large window. I looked up in the sky, and it was
very bright, like a bright sun. In the dream, I thought I was looking at the glory of God.
Then, I heard: Our God reigns.
A dream like this is hard to pin down to one particular storm, if it even refers to a weather event at all.
Hurricane Bonnie hit the North Carolina and Virginia coasts ten days later on August 27, 1998. Although it
killed three people and caused about $720 million in damages, it was not what we would call a great
storm . However, in late October 1998, Hurricane Mitch, with record speeds of 180 mph, hit Central
America, killing 11,000 and causing damages in excess of 2 billion dollars. It was ranked as the second
deadliest hurricane in 200 years. This could be called a great storm . However, depending on how one
rates storms (deaths, damage, costs, wind speeds, etc.), there have been many great storms across the
globe since then.
But, given the nature of the dream and the word, it appears to me that this great storm is something more
than a weather event. A storm is not restricted to an atmospheric event but can include a strong
disturbance or upheaval of a political, social, cultural, or institutional nature . As such, a storm could be
either tangible, affecting the physical realm, or intangible, affecting the more abstract, incorporeal, or
invisible realm. Of course, this great storm could include both realms, and I suspect it does.
Regardless, the most important aspect of this dream is the coming glory of God, which, to me, points to
only one event, and that is the arrival of our beloved Lord Jesus. Whatever the great storm looks like, the
message is that God reigns, He is in the storms, and His Son is coming soon. The great storm is most likely
the precursor to the reign of God coming to earth through King Jesus.
Another word that complements this one came to me in July 1999.
