Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet;
but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God
(Philippians 3:13-14 NASB)
Christchurch Quake & Asteroids
September 9, 2010
I imagine that some who have been reading my material lately, especially in regard to my September 8,
Wednesday dream, might be scratching their heads or, even worse, writing me off as another one of
those “dater” nut cases who thinks we can know the date for the Lord’s return. Actually, I ended my last
issue stating that when it comes to the prophetic, it is a matter of interpretation and timing and not
expectation. In other words, the expectation does not change: For, yet a very little while, and the
One coming will come, and will not delay [Habakkuk 2:3] (Hebrews 10:37). Dynamite could not
rip this verse from my heart. He will not delay! What might change is the interpretation and timing of
the prophetic. As the Lord has reminded me on more than one occasion, we need to “ transcend
time .” So, just for the record, I am not discouraged that the first resurrection did not occur, at least as
far as we know, but rather I am very much encouraged. Each day draws us closer to His appearing. I
believe that September 8 th was a transactional day in which heaven moved (bound and loosed); we must
wait for its manifestations here on earth. Besides, the month of September is far from over.
Now, let me offer some thoughts on two current events.
Signs on earth: Christchurch Earthquake.
When I heard that a major 7.1 (some reports state 7.4) earthquake had struck Christchurch, New
Zealand on September 4, 2010 at 4:35 am, I immediately sensed this was a prophetic sign because of
the name of the city. One news report was titled: “Earth’s surface ‘lurches 11 ft to the right’ as
New Zealand earthquake rips new fault line.” It was a major quake, but, due to good building
codes, not a single person was killed in this city of 400,000. Considering the devastating quakes that
occurred in Haiti and Chile earlier this year, this is nothing short of a miracle.
Another interesting fact is that the more severe damage occurred in areas in which structures, such as
roads, were built on sand. When a quake hits, there is something called “liquid faction” in which sand
turns to mush, as if it were water, and all that is built on it is severely shaken. One report from an expert
stated: “There is a lot of water in the soil that gets shaken up and liberated during the earthquake that
causes sand volcanoes. ” Soil-like sand erupts out of the ground because of soft foundations.
I have four thoughts about this quake.
First, I admit that, at times, I might make too much out of numbers, but did you notice that the earth’s
surface lurched 11 feet, and, when it did, it created a new fault line in the earth? The number 11
signifies disorder and disintegration. Isn’t this the character of a quake and the character that
will be manifested when the wrath of God comes to the nations? It is interesting that quakes were
recorded as occurring in different places around the world every day from 9/4 leading up to 9/8:
Christchurch 7.1-7.4 quake (9/4); Anchorage, Alaska (near it) 6.3 quake (9/4); Oklahoma 12 small
quakes (9/5); Wellington, NZ 5.2 quake (9/6); Fiji Islands 6.3 quake (9/7).
Second, this is a reminder to Christ’s church, which is His Body , that God has promised: “YET
denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that
those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we receive a kingdom
which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an
acceptable service with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire (Hebrews
12:26-29). It is time for the church to be shaken out of its complacency and men’s traditions, which
could be likened to a “fault line.” Is God drawing a line in the sand for His people? Whose kingdom do
you seek? Besides, it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God (1 Peter 4:17).
Third, God spared every life in Christchurch. Consider Paul’s encouragement for all those who are
waiting for God’s Son to come from heaven, that is, who love His appearing (2 Timothy 4:8): Jesus
who rescues us from the wrath to come (1 Thessalonians 1:10). Let us live with expectancy!
Fourth, let us build our lives on the firm foundation of Christ the Solid Rock and His Word.
(24) “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be
compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. … (26) Everyone who hears
these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his
house on the sand. (27) The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and
slammed against that house; and it fell - and great was its fall.” (Matthew 7:24, 26-27 NASB)
Signs in the sky: Three Asteroids.
On March 20, 2010, I heard: “ Asteroid is coming ,” and then 20 days later, on April 8, 2010 , it was
reported that asteroid 2010 GA6 passed by earth 223,000 miles out. We might think this was no
big deal, but then on September 8, 2010 , two more asteroids passed closer to earth. Asteroid 2010
RX30 passed by earth 154,000 miles out at 5:51 am, and asteroid 2010 RF12 passed by earth
49,088 miles out, nearly 12 hours later, at 5:12 pm. They were small in size as asteroids go, so they
did not pose any grave danger to earth, even if they had entered our atmosphere.
There are sixth things to note about these asteroids.
First, the last two occurred on Wednesday, September 8 th , which I continue to believe is a very
significant prophetic date as we head into the home stretch to the coming of the Lord (see last issue
Second, we know that both the heavens and the earth will be shaken as the Lord’s return draws closer
(Hebrews 12:26) and that there will be signs in the sky. After all, when Jesus came the first time, there
were signs in the sky (heavens), and so it will be with His second coming.
Third, these last two asteroids were not observed by the astronomers until a few weeks ago. In other
words, they did not see them coming. How many are discerning the coming of the Lord?
Fourth, things are confirmed by a witness of two or three. So far this year, there have three reported
witnesses, two of which were on the same day.
Fifth, each asteroid passed closer to earth than the previous one (223,000 to 154,000 to 49,088 miles),
and they passed between the earth and the moon, which is 240,000 miles from earth.
Sixth, the most interesting thing to note is that from the appearance of the first asteroid on 4-8-10 to
the last two on 9-8-10 is exactly 153 days . If you have read much of my material, you know that the
number 153 signifies the sons of God as depicted in John 21:11 (i.e., the 153 fish in the net). See
issue #02-08153, December 31, 2008, The Number of the Sons of God – 153 .
Prophetically speaking, I take this to mean that the manifestation of the sons of God is getting closer
and closer, and it will come about during the fall feast of Tabernacles, starting with Trumpets, which
this year fell on 9-8. We have been given the witness of two asteroids on the same day, twelve hours
apart. By the way, the number 12 signifies divine government , and when the sons of God are
manifested, the perfect government of God will begin to take root among the nations; it is called the
kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ (Revelation 11:15).
Rather than being discouraged that there was no evidence of the first resurrection yesterday, I am
encouraged all the more that it will yet occur during the fall feasts, starting with Trumpets, and not
during some other time of year. Some teach the imminent return of the Lord, meaning there are no
prophetic events that must be fulfilled for Jesus to return. Scripture proves otherwise. Unfortunately,
this teaching has led some (perhaps, many) away from having much expectancy of the Lord’s return.
Dear people of God; please do not lose your longing and fervor and love for the return of the Lord.
There is a crown of righteousness laid up for all who love His appearing that will be awarded on
that future Day (2 Timothy 4:8). Do not be persuaded otherwise! Again, live with expectancy! Love your
Beloved Lord Jesus and love His appearing!
