THE UPWARD CALL
Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet;
but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God
IN CHRIST JESUS.
(Philippians 3:13-14 NASB)
My Inheritance You Made An Abomination
September 4, 2010
Before sharing a word that I believe the Lord gave me last night, I need to highlight the words goy
(Hebrew) and ethnos (Greek), which should be concordantly translated into the word nation .
Unfortunately, they are not always translated as such, which leads to misinterpretation of Scripture. For
example, in the King James Version, the Hebrew word goy appears 558 times and is translated nation
374 times, heathen 143 times, gentiles 30 times, and people 11 times. The problem created by this is
that it has led many people to divide the nations into Jew and gentile or Jew and non-Jew. This is very
unfortunate, especially in light of what I have been sharing about the migration of the Hebrew-Israelites
and the Israelite nations of our day.
If you want to learn more about the words goy and ethnos , please see the series The Fullness of the
Nations [Ethnos] , August 2009, issues #03-09156 to #03-09159.
It would be far better and more accurate to follow the concordant method of translation and uniformly
translate goy and ethnos into nation and allow the reader to discern to whom it refers. If you are not
convinced of this need, then consider the following verses about the father of nations.
(12:2) And I will make you a great nation [goy] , and I will bless you, and make your name
great; and so you shall be a blessing…. (18:18) And Abraham shall become a great and
powerful nation [goy] , and all the nations [goy] of the earth shall be blessed in him?
(Genesis 12:2; 18:18 NASB)
(8) And the Scripture foreseeing that God would justify the nations [goy] [KJV = heathen]
by faith, preached the gospel before to Abraham: “All the nations [goy] [KJV = nations] will
be blessed in you.” Gen. 12:3 (14) That the blessing of Abraham might be to the nations
[goy] [KJV = Gentiles] in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit
through faith. (Galatians 3:8, 14 LITV)
Notice that the blessing of Abraham involves nations, not one nation, as in Jewish nation, or one
nation, as in Israelite nation. There is no reason to inject the words heathen or gentiles into these verses
unless one is more interested in interpretative bias , which means the translators inject their own
bias into the text by using certain words over other ones.
Many people might think of the USA as a gentile nation, but as I have shown, albeit in a very cursory
way, the USA is an Israelite nation, along with Great Britain and many others. However, even worse,
many view the modern Jewish nation of Israel as the only Jewish-Israelite nation on earth. This we
need to reject. At best, they are a Jewish nation but not an Israelite nation, a designation that would
mean they have been reunited with the whole house of Israel, which they have not been. The world is
awaiting the Repairer of the Breach to come to reunite His whole house, whose house we are if we
hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end (Hebrews 3:6), for then
the world will see the true Israel, the treasure that has been hidden in the field (Matthew 13:44).
This leads to the word that came to me as I placed my head on the pillow last night. I simply heard:
Jeremiah 2:8-9 . For a little continuity, let us consider the preceding verses as well.
(6) “They did not say, ‘Where is the LORD Who brought us up out of the land of Egypt,
who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land
of drought and of deep darkness, through a land that no one crossed and where no man
dwelt?’ (7) “I brought you into the fruitful land to eat its fruit and its good things. But you
came and defiled My land, and My inheritance you made an abomination. (8) The priests
did not say, ‘Where is the LORD?’ And those who handle the law did not know Me; the
rulers also transgressed against Me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal and walked
after things that did not profit. (9) Therefore I will yet contend with you,” declares the
LORD, “And with your sons’ sons I will contend.” (Jeremiah 2:6-9 NASB)
At first blush, one might think these words apply to Judah since Jeremiah was a prophet of Judah. Even
my NASB version infers it applies to Judah, for the caption over chapter 2 is “Judah’s Apostasy.” This is
unfortunate, for it makes one read all the verses of this chapter as strictly referring to Judah, which they
do not. Verse 4 clearly speaks to the two houses: Hear the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob,
and all the families of the house of Israe l. If anything, the Lord was speaking to both Judah and
Israel, as in verse 3: Israel was holy to the Lord, the first of His harvest . However, verse 26
specifically speaks to one house: So the house of Israel is shamed . Later, in chapter 3, Jeremiah
makes it abundantly clear that the house of Israel refers exclusively to the northern ten tribes and not to
Judah. Here the NASB gets it right, for the caption over verse 6 reads “Faithless Israel.” Read Jeremiah
3:6-14 and you will see that it speaks of the writ of divorce the Lord gave to the house of Israel, not to
Judah. It is this writ that allowed the house of Israel to be dispersed and to be married to others under
new names. The good news is that this will be reversed when the Lord comes a second time, the two
houses are reunited (Jeremiah 3:18), and they are married to the Lord. By the way, the history of the
house of Israel (Ephraim) is revealed through the prophecies of Hosea.
Now, at first, I wondered why I had been given these verses. What do they mean to us today? I do not
believe the Lord simply wanted to give me a history lesson. Then it occurred to me that this is connected
to the last issue I just posted about the USA being an Israelite nation. If you will, come outside the box
with me and read the above verses in light of the history of America.
Those who settled in America in the 1600’s came out of the old world (Egypt) to a land of darkness, void
of the gospel. They were Hebrew-Israelite migrators , Christians holding the banner of the gospel of
Jesus Christ, who were looking for “religious freedom” in a new world. They came to a new world that
was a vast wilderness that included desert regions and mountain ranges of uninhabitable (waste) land.
No Caucasian had ever traversed this land to permanently live on it. Yes, there were signs of ancient
civilizations and there were Native Americans on the land, but no one from the Israelite Diaspora
had roots here until outposts were established in Jamestown and then in Plymouth in 1620 when the
Christian-Pilgrims arrived on the Mayflower. They came here to establish New Jerusalem and the
Kingdom of God in a new world. It was rough at first, but then they discovered it was a land of milk and
honey, a vast land with many natural resources and great and often contrasting beauty from sea to sea.
As time passed, the settlers moved west across the vast woodlands, the plains, the deserts, and the great
mountain ranges. This was God’s doing and His inheritance given to the Hebrew-Israelites. America
grew into a mighty nation of a multitude of people from around the world. She became a haven for the
poor and the tired and the weary and the downtrodden. Those who came here were answering the call
of the Lord: “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest”
(Matthew 11:28 NASB). For many, America became heaven on earth, Paradise, a place of rest and peace
from shore to shore, even of unwalled cities.
But what has happened to this great nation that was first settled 390 years ago? It has become defiled
and polluted with all kinds of sin and bloodshed. In the eyes of God, our government has become an
abomination, for it is driven by falsehood, lies, hypocrisy, corruption, greed, and the love of money. The
law of the land is man’s law, not God’s law. The courts have thrown God out of government and have
banned His Ten Commandments from the public square and the education system. One judge recently
ruled that lying is lawful, which means he declared that lawlessness is the rule of the land. Jesus
prophesied of the heart of man at the end of the age: “Because lawlessness is increased, most
people’s love will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12 NASB).
But wait! What is the condition of the church? The leaders (priests) are not asking the poignant
question: “Where is the Lord?” Instead, they are listening to all the false prophets of the media and
walking after many unprofitable things. They have been busy building their own tabernacles and golden
calves. What is the Lord to do? I will yet contend with you and your sons! It is time to repent!
Great change is coming! Both great light and deep darkness will increase in the days ahead. It is time to
seek for the Light of the World , the source of all light, and come out of all darkness.
