Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet;
but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God
(Philippians 3:13-14 NASB)
USA – An Israelite Nation
September 3, 2010
Issue #04-10109, August 31, 2010, posed the question: Where is Israel today? The answer is that
Israel is not lost; it simply has changed names, not to one name but to a multitude of names to include
Great Britain, Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. The descendants of
the ten tribes of the northern kingdom of Israel were dispersed among the nations in the Israelite
Diaspora that, over time, drove them to Europe, the British Isles, and beyond. Even some Orthodox
Jews recognize this as fact. Others have conducted extensive research unearthing considerable evidence
proving the point, so much so that I have merely skirted the fringes of it.
I have written some issues about the United States, questioning whether we are a Christian nation or a
kingdom nation. Frankly, I struggled after I wrote them because I felt something was amiss with these
labels. I think I know why.
Today, America is more rightly called an Israelite nation . We are not a gentile nation, and we
are not a Jewish nation. We are an Israelite nation that is fulfilling prophecy pertaining to Joseph and
his sons, in particular, Manasseh.
First, we must start with the prophetic blessing spoken over Joseph’s sons by their grandfather Jacob-
Israel. Jacob was given the name Israel by the Lord, and in this capacity, he adopted Joseph’s two sons
born in Egypt―Ephraim and Manasseh.
(5) “Now your two sons, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you
in Egypt, are mine; Ephraim and Manasseh shall be mine, as Reuben and Simeon are. (6)
But your offspring that have been born after them shall be yours; they shall be called by
the names of their brothers in their inheritance.” (Genesis 48:5-6 NASB)
Second, Israel blessed the lads with his name Israel , not Jacob. Under the banner of Israel , they were to
become a multitude of people in the midst of the earth, meaning they would migrate throughout the
earth and grow into a very large number of people. In fact, their promised land became many lands.
“The angel who has redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and may my name [Israel]
live on in them, and the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and may they grow into
a multitude in the midst of the earth.” (Genesis 48:16 NASB)
Third, the names of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel are important, for the birthright or the right of sonship
was passed down from father to son, normally to the elder son but not always, for the father had the
discretion of who would receive it. Abraham passed it to Isaac, actually his second born as well, for he
was given to him by the Lord. Isaac was the son of promise, and the Lord told Abraham that through
Isaac your descendants shall be named (Genesis 21:12). In other words, as the house of Israel
(not Judah) was dispersed throughout the earth to become a great multitude [thousands of ten
thousands; i.e., in the billions (Genesis 24:60)], they also would carry the name Isaac with them. This is
an important clue in tracing the migration of the Hebrew-Israelites, for they became known as the
house of Isaac or the Sacs (Saka) that led to the Anglo-Saxons (and Caucasians).
Fourth, in the case of the birthright going to one of Jacob’s sons, we are clearly told that the birthright
did not go to Rueben the firstborn, but to Joseph’s two sons who carried the name Israel , as the sons of
Israel. Thus, the birthright that was passed down from Isaac is attached to the name Israel .
(1) Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel (for he was the firstborn, but because
he defiled his father’s bed, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel;
so that he is not enrolled in the genealogy according to the birthright. (2) Though Judah
prevailed over his brothers, and from him came the leader, yet the birthright belonged to
Joseph)…. (1 Chronicles 5:1-2 NASB)
Fifth, in an ironic twist that had to be according to the plan of God, when it came time to speak a
prophetic blessing over Ephraim and Manasseh, Israel placed the younger over the older. They both
received a great blessing, but Ephraim was blessed as if he were the firstborn, something that
displeased Joseph and that he tried to get his father to reverse.
But his father refused and said, “I know, my son, I know; he also will become a people
[i.e. a nation] and he [Manasseh] also will be great. However, his younger brother [Ephraim]
shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become a multitude of nations [i.e.
more than one nation] .” (Genesis 48:19 NASB)
As a side note, in reference to the Old and New Covenants, Hebrews tells us: He takes away the first
in order to establish the second (Hebrews 10:9), which seems to be a divine law. The first Adam
was taken away for the Second Adam; Ishmael was taken away for Isaac; Esau was taken away for
Jacob; Manasseh was taken away for Ephraim. Oh, the wisdom of God.
Sixth, some researchers believe the USA is more characteristic of Manasseh, Joseph’s older son that
Jacob-Israel prophesied would be a great people, meaning a great nation, not a multitude of nations but
a single great nation. Thus, the younger was blessed to become a multitude of nations while the elder
was blessed to become one great nation.
Researchers on this fascinating subject see Great Britain as Ephraim, for he spawned many nations, and
the USA as Manasseh, for he became a mighty nation but was never a great empire or a multitude of
nations. At its height in 1914, the British Empire was the largest empire to ever exist in the history of
mankind. By the end of WWII, the USA had surpassed the British Empire in power and influence in the
world, but the two nations remained united as brothers.
Seventh, there are many similarities between Manasseh and America, but one in particular is very
telling. When Jacob-Israel adopted Joseph’s two sons, he essentially created another tribe, that is, a
thirteenth tribe. Since he put Ephraim before Manasseh, Ephraim became the twelfth tribe and
Manasseh the thirteenth tribe. In other words, Joseph’s tribe became two tribes and the name Israel
was attached to both of them.
Now, here is the interesting part; the number 13 is associated with the United States, for we started out
with 13 colonies that became the first states in our republic that eventually became a union of 50 states.
We have retained many symbols of the number 13 in our heritage. For example, the modern American
flag has 13 red and white stripes. Our national crest has 13 stars, 13 bars on the shield over the eagle’s
body, 13 arrows in one talon, and 13 leaves on the olive branch in the other talon. Our motto, E Pluribus
Unum , has 13 letters.
Biblically, the number 13 signifies rebellion (Genesis 14:4), which aptly fits our rebellion against King
George that led to the American Revolution and our independence. Taxation was one of the bones of
contention. This parallels the house of Israel that openly rebelled against the house of Judah because of
burdensome taxes following Solomon’s death.
Interestingly, according to gematria, the names of Judah’s kings have a gematria of 4400 (8 x 550) and
the names of Israel’s kings have a gematria of 3900 (13 x 300). It was Israel that rebelled against Judah,
and it was Israel that lost its name to become a multitude of nations with other names. So Israel has
been in rebellion against the house of David to this day (1 Kings 12:19 NASB).
Eighth, some might be a bit unnerved by the number 13, but let us not forget that the Repairer of the
Breach will come and reunite Israel and Judah (Ezekiel 37:15-23), and there will be no more rebellion in
the whole house of Israel. Besides, the USA started with 13 states but grew to a union of 50 states. The
number 50 signifies the Holy Spirit , Pentecost , and Jubilee . Is there any doubt that during the era
of Pentecost, there has been no nation on earth that has done more to spread the gospel worldwide, and
done more acts of charity to nations and peoples in need, and done more to fight back evil empires than
America? For most of our history, we have been a nation with a large population of Christians, which in
its own right is an indication that we are an Israelite nation and of the house of Isaac.
