THE UPWARD CALL
Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet;
but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God
IN CHRIST JESUS.
(Philippians 3:13-14 NASB)

Glenn Beck Rally ―
Great Change is Coming
September 1, 2010
Well, September has arrived. If you have paid attention to the month of September in previous years,
you know that major events have occurred. On September 11, 2001, we saw a double witness of the
beginning of the fall of Mystery Babylon when the twin towers of the World Trade Center fell. Then,
exactly seven years later, we saw a second witness of the fall of Mystery Babylon when Lehman Brothers
began to fall, which pushed the global financial crisis over the brink, so to speak. I have more to say
about these, but I will do it in other issues.
In one sense, these are negative events, for they have affected many people in a variety of ways, not only
economically, but in the fact that 9/11/2001 led the US into two major wars with the accompanying
hardships and losses to those who served and their families, and the nation as a whole.
However, there is also a positive side to these two events. The fall of Mystery Babylon leads to the
coming of the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ. This is when the nations begin to submit to the
reign of Christ, for they will come to the conclusion that their way of governing apart from God and His
Son has not turned out so good. In fact, it has been a failure. They have rejected God’s way, thinking
that His way is too restrictive, but they will see that it has been their way that has restricted them. It has
produced wars, death, economic turmoil, poverty, disease, oppression, bondage, and a whole host of
trials and tribulations. After 6,000 years of Man’s Day, there is little to show for man being at the helm
of his ship. At least man thinks he has been at the helm, But God has been steering man’s course to
bring him to the end of himself and his carnal flesh that says it has a better way than God’s way.
For the conquerors, it is even more glorious, for they will be changed into His image with immortal,
spiritual, glorified bodies. There is nothing greater than to be transfigured into the image of our Lord.
But even better, there is nothing greater than finally seeing the Love of our life face to face. Oh, do you
love the thought of His appearing (2 Timothy 4:8)? Are you longing to see the Lover of your life?
(2) Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be.
We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He
is. (3) And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
(1 John 3:2-3 NASB)
Good news; it won’t be long! This world is about to change for the good. Oh, there is great darkness and
hardship yet to come upon the world, but this leads to glory, for the earth will be filled with the
knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea” (Habakkuk 2:14 NASB).
Does this bring excitement to your soul? Does this cause your spirit to rejoice, even to soar?
Now, on Saturday, August 28, 2010, Glenn Beck held a rally in Washington DC. His theme was about
restoring honor, but there was far more to this rally than this. I watched all three hours on cable, but
minutes before it started, I began crying. I do not cry that easily, so I must believe that my spirit was
touching God’s Spirit in some special way, as if the Spirit were interceding.
(25) But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it. (26)
In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as
we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;
(27) and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He
intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:25-27 NASB)
I was touched by a few things.
First, Glenn Beck is a Mormon who has exhibited more light in some things of God than many
evangelical preachers of our day. He is the only broadcaster that I know of that unabashedly declares
that our nation needs God and encourages people to pray. I believe the Lord has raised him up, not only
to be a prophetic voice to our nation, but to be a prophetic voice to the church that has turned from God
and grown complacent with its tradition of men that the Lord Jesus condemns (Mark 7:8). Glenn is a
rough stone at times but so have been many of the men that the Lord has used.
One thing about Glenn that I admire most is that he is a seeker of the truth that sets us free. If he is off
in some things, just as many of us are off in some things, do we think God is not going to reveal His
truth to him, even if it contradicts some of his own beliefs? May there be Baptists, Methodists,
Episcopals, and many other denominationalists that seek for the truth as Glenn seeks for it and are
willing to be adjusted by God’s Spirit. May the Lord reveal to all of us our blindness, causing us to buy
eye salve to give us spiritual sight and knowledge of His truth that is found in the One who is Truth!
Second, those who marched against this rally and continue to criticize it cannot see that it was and is
being directed by the Spirit of God, not by the spirit of the world. This is why so many accusers,
especially in the media, sound so foolish and ignorant in their reaction to Glenn and the rally. They do
not understand it because they are blind to the things of God. They are analyzing it with carnal minds. It
is the blind leading the blind. May they too buy eye salve from the Lord!
Third, these criticizers are not healers or reconcilers but people who still harbor unforgiveness in their
hearts like an open, festering wound. They might speak of the need for reconciliation, but they know so
little of Paul’s admonishment: We are beseeching for Christ’s sake, “Be conciliated to God!” (2
Corinthians 5:20 CV). They need to be conciliated to God first and then be conciliated to all others, so
that they can be rooted in the ground of reconciliation and be healed by the love of God.
Fourth, and most importantly, God was declared King of the nations and the name of Jesus was lifted
up over the nation. It was a mighty declaration; the type of declaration that I have written in previous
issues needs to and must be lifted up over America if we are to turn from our wicked ways and be healed
as a nation. It was done, not by the politicians, but by Christians who obviously love the Lord. This was
God’s doing as He moved upon seeking hearts. It should not go unnoticed that this declaration was
made on the anniversary of when Dr. Martin Luther King stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial
and gave his “I have a dream” speech. On King’s Day, the KING was proclaimed.
Fifth, hearing that upwards of 500,000 attended the rally reminded me of a word I believe the Lord
spoke to me on February 26, 2005: “500,000 in one hour. Great change is coming.” My natural
reaction to this was that it meant something catastrophic was coming. (I think I shared this in some
past issue.) But as I have stated before, the problem is not so much about hearing the Lord as it is about
interpreting what He says. Undoubtedly, the last hour (i.e., one hour) of the rally was very powerful.
Glenn declared: “America today begins to turn back to God. For too long, this country has
wandered in darkness.” Amen. I believe that this is just as much, if not more so, an indictment of
the church of God. It is time to return to God, repent, and seek His truth.
Finally, I must leave you with some gematria. The number of days between the time I heard about the
500,000 and the day of the rally is 2009 days or 7 (i.e., spiritual perfection) x 287. I must confess that I
am not very good at calculating the gematria for words or phrases, so I rely on websites that provide this
service. Upon entering the number 287 into one database, I was given the following that have a
gematria of 287: Spirit of Wisdom, Wonderful Counselor, and My Help. Of course, these all speak of our
Lord. But the one that struck me the most was this: “A Little While.” This happens to be a word the
Lord spoke to me on August 17, 2010 to encourage my heart that it won’t be long until He comes.
(17) Some of His disciples then said to one another, “What is this thing He is telling us, ‘A
little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me’; and,
‘because I go to the Father’?” (18) So they were saying, “What is this that He says, ‘A little
while’? We do not know what He is talking about.” (John 16:17-18 NASB)
Do you know what He was talking about? A few days later, they saw Him in His resurrected and
transfigured body! Do you know what the next great event is for the conquerors, both asleep and alive in
Christ? The resurrection and transfiguration! It’s coming!
