THE UPWARD CALL
Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet;
but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God
IN CHRIST JESUS.

We Need A Sea Change!
“Let My People Go!”
September 25, 2009
As stated in the series on sea change, the phrase sea change came to my mind one day as I was
meditating on all that is transpiring in the world, America, in the church of God, and even in my own
life.
A sea change refers either to “a change brought about by the sea,” that is, a change by a literal
body of water called the sea, or to “a great change, transformation, or alteration,” regardless of
the source or cause.
I have no doubt that we, individually, need a sea change, the church of God needs a sea change, all the
religions of the world need a sea change, and the nations need a sea change; the whole world needs a
sea change. The fact of the matter is that one and the same sea change is needed for all mankind in
these last days at this late hour. We all need the sea change brought about by the kingdom of
our Lord and of His Christ (Revelation 11:15).
As we consider all the events that have transpired in the world during the last decade or so, it is
apparent that much change has occurred in many realms. We could name as examples the war on
terror, the US dot-com bubble burst, the US housing-bubble burst, the global financial crisis, and the
global recession. In many respects, each of these could be called sea changes in their own right. After
all, the global financial crisis has been a major event that has altered the way the world operates, and, as
we take our breath right now, the financial system is being realigned and manipulated by the power
brokers. From all that I have read, the change is not over and the world, especially the United States,
might be in for some dramatic changes in the very near future. Mystery Babylon must fall, and as it
continues to fall, there will be more and more shaking of the things that can be shaken. God has
promised.
But now He has promised, saying, “Yet once” “I will shake not only the earth, but also the
heavens.” Hag. 2:6 (27) Now the words “Yet once” make clear the removal of the things
being shaken, as having been made, so that the things not being shaken may remain. (28)
For this reason, receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us have grace, by which we may
serve God pleasingly, with reverence and awe; (29) for also, “Our God is a consuming
fire.” Deut. 4:24 (Hebrews 12:26-29 LITV)
Dear brethren, I make an appeal to all that we need change, but we need the right type of change; we
need God’s change brought about through His Son, and it must begin with us who are of the household
of God. God is going to bring monumental change to this earth, but the question for each of us is this:
Are we ready? Have our hearts been prepared? Have God’s laws been put in our minds and written
upon our hearts? Have we obeyed the gospel? Have we kept our lamps lit? Are we more than
conquering through Him who loves us? Like a love-struck bride, are we longing to see the love of our
life? Do we have vision of our destiny in Christ in relation to His coming kingdom and God’s Day that
follows His 1,000-year reign?
To all who have ears to hear and eyes to see; there is a special destiny for all in Christ who conquer
while occupying bodies of death (mortal bodies) as we wait to put off mortality and put on immortality.
All who believe will ultimately reach this goal, but not all will reach it through the first resurrection and
transfiguration. Some, perhaps many, will have to wait for the second resurrection.
This is what is on my heart for the Lord’s people: There seems to be a total disconnect to what is
transpiring in our day and the destiny that God has set before His people, especially His conquerors.
Now, I realize there are many saying that we are in the last days and that the Lord could come at any
time. Actually, He cannot, for He must come in fulfillment of the fall feasts of Trumpets (first
resurrection) and Tabernacles (glorification). Of course, many among this group believe in the
church’s rapture out of this earth prior to the rest of the world being brought to near extinction. I do not
believe this is based on Scripture and have attempted to set the record straight in my book Snatched
Away “The Rapture,” January 2009.
I want to speak directly to American Christians, but I believe what is on my heart is for all Christians in
the world.
There is so much change going on in America that I sense many Christians are getting swept up in the
secular discourse and civil protest that is happening in our country today. I do not fault anyone; I find
myself struggling not to be caught up in it. I ask myself: Should I be doing something? Should I attend a
tea party? Should I participate in a march, like the big march on Washington that occurred on
September 12, 2009? Am I not a good citizen if I ignore these things? For me, the answer to these
questions is that My Lord’s kingdom is not of this world (John 18:36), and as such, I must press on
toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14).
Frankly, there are some in the media that I listen to that seem to have a good grasp of some of the issues
we face and the dangers of the hard-left turn that our country is taking. But I have come to the
conclusion that even these voices, even ones who periodically invoke God in their discourse, are not in
step with God. As I wrote in issue #03-09165, September 15, 2009, Modern-Day False Prophets , none
of the voices I hear speaking in the media are voices of ones who are standing in the council of the Lord.
If they were, their message would be one of repentance and pronouncement that we must proclaim
Jesus as King of the nations, and acknowledge that the Most High is the ruler over the realm of
mankind and the heavens rule (Daniel 4:26, 32). This is the voice that needs to be heard in our day.
I cannot speak for all that is being spoken in the church of God, but as I listen to televangelists and
Sunday worship services, and as I talk to friends who have contacts with many believers, I sense that
many of the Lord’s people, especially so-called church leaders, are not standing in the council of the
Lord. Obviously, this is an overly generalized statement, for surely the Lord has His 7,000, just as He
did in the day of Elijah; but the point is that there seem to be just as many church voices out of step with
the Lord as there are secular voices of the media.
Dear brethren, as individual Christians, we need a sea change in our lives to set and keep us on the path
of the coming kingdom of our Lord before it is too late to be counted worthy to reign with Christ as a
son of God in His kingdom in the next age.
The church of God and its leaders need a sea change. Our destiny is not about what God wants to do in
our life today (God’s purpose in our life), what programs or organizations the church must build, or
even what defenses we need to mount to defend God, country, and guns. Please, hear me; it is not about
taking back our country, even to the original intent of the Founding Fathers, and waving the flag. No; it
is about pressing on toward the kingdom of our Lord and raising His banner and His government over
the nations until His glory fills the whole earth and the nations learn righteousness. This is the destiny
of the conquering church. Our battle is not of flesh and blood. We must press on!
The media and the leaders of America want a sea change, and they will try to bring one about; but it will
not be God’s sea change. I am convinced that the hearts of many from the media to Congress to the
White House have been hardened just as Pharaoh’s heart was. When they ignore a big march on
Washington as if it were insignificant; when they are caught up more with decorum than with trying to
expose corruption, deceit, and lies; when hypocrisy and lies are accepted, even expected, as part of the
political game; when special interests override the interests of the people; when flagrant abuses of
public trust and tax money go unanswered; when disagreements with the president are called racism;
and when politicians appear before the cameras with their reasoned and parsed words as if this is just
part of the game, then we can only expect that whatever sea change the powers-to-be orchestrate will be
contrary to the kingdom of God. The Lord hardens hearts, but then He declares: “Let My people go!”
There is good news: God changes the times and the epochs. He is going to bring about the most glorious
sea change this earth has ever seen. Release is coming. His Kingdom is coming! Count on it!
