On February 28, 2008, I had a very vivid dream in which I saw an extremely filthy cord tied to a
black man wearing a baseball cap, with the cord attached to me. In the dream, I was very
repulsed by this gross cord but not necessarily by the man. I was being pulled around by this
man. I tried to get away from him, but he would not let me go, so I took a pair of scissors, cut the
cord, and then washed the part that had been attached to me.
I puzzled about this dream for the next seven months, until on September 16, 2008, as I was in
prayer, I believe that the Spirit of God gave me understanding. Much to my surprise, it was not
one man but two men in one. The black man represented Barack Obama and the baseball cap
represented John McCain . If you didn't notice, while on the campaign trail, John McCain often
wore a baseball cap. Interestingly, the face of the man in the dream was not thin but round,
which is more a picture of John McCain as well. I must add that neither man had won the
nomination of his party at that time. John McCain clinched it the next month, but Barack Obama
did not clinch it until June.
The imagery and interpretation that came to me is not something that I could make up. I had not
been thinking about the two candidates in reference to the dream nor had I been pondering any
theories about the meaning of the dream. It came to me as quickly as a flash of lightning.
Let me be abundantly clear that I do not believe this dream is about any particular individual nor
is it meant to impugn the character of either man or to bring attention to me. It is not about the
men; it is about what they represent , since they were the primary figures on the political scene
at that moment in time.
Here is the interpretation of the dream: The two men represented the political system in the
US, I represented the American people , and the filthy cord represented the corruption that
has permeated the political system as it has become more about power and control, love of
money, greed, lies, hypocrisy, and conflict than about righteousness, justice, mercy, truth,
peace, and love. Cutting and washing the cord signified the release of the American people
from attachment to this corruption and coming into something clean or incorrupt. It is significant
that, in the dream, I was led to cut and then wash the part of the cord that was attached to me.
On September 23, 2008, I was led to take a cord, cover it with dirt, cut it, and then wash the part
I held and discard the other part, to signify the breaking of this corruption that is attached to the
American people. In some measure, I believe that what I was led to do was important to the
Kingdom of God and the hour in which we live. It was a spiritual act based on Matthew 6:10:
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. It has been done in
heaven, and now, I believe, it will be manifested on earth at the time fixed by the Father’s
authority.
I did not choose this particular day to act out this spiritual battle other than I had set the day
aside to seek the Lord and pray. However, in retrospect, I see that the day had significance
since it was made up of the numbers 9 and 23. The number 9 refers to judgment and the
number 23 refers to death. Thus, the corrupt political system is under judgment that will lead to
its demise and replacement by something much better. I believe its replacement is the Kingdom
of our Lord, which is the righteous government of God.

Dream – Cords of Falsehood
The Word of God makes reference to a cord of falsehood and iniquity.
(18) Woe to those who drag iniquity with the cords of falsehood, and sin as if with cart
ropes; (19) who say, "Let Him make speed, let Him hasten His work, that we may see it;
And let the purpose of the Holy One of Israel draw near and come to pass, that we may
know it!" (20) Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who substitute darkness
for light and light for darkness; who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
(Isaiah 5:18-20 NASB)
Is this not the hour in which we live? Do we not see a political system filled with darkness that
calls evil good and good evil and substitutes darkness for light and light for darkness?
Thank God; He has purposed to cut this cord and set us free to truly be a righteous nation under
God that declares Jesus is the King of the nations.
